New Year Resolutions: Make 2018 Your Best Year Yet

Hey lovelies,

Happy New Year to you all.

I am terrible at keeping New Year’s resolutions – to the point where I almost decided not to make any this year. Then I thought on – what is stopping so many of us from sticking to our heartfelt and well-intended plans? Why shouldn’t 2018 be THE year for everything we desire to actually become a reality?

Should any of you be contemplating your New Year resolutions, before you pledge your area of self-improvement, I have compiled a checklist that may just help us to breeze our resolutions until they are totally IRL.

1.Be Realistic

For instance, if we were to make a pledge similar to that of K Kardashian’s (less phone time and being more in the moment) probably we all would succeed with flying colours. I am a great believer in everyone having the ability to achieve anything to which they set their mind. However, if your dreams are sky-high with several mountains blocking the way, make a plan with realistic goals to be achieved within feasible time frames. Some of the best things take time, and this is ok.

 2.Make Notes

Write out your goals or dreams, stick them on the fridge, by your bed, on the mirror – everywhere. Read them each day when you get up and before you go to sleep. Pledge to do one thing each day (or even each week) that brings your dream closer. Visualizing your dreams and repeating this pattern will condition your brain into action.

3.Fitness

If your goal is to lose weight or become healthier, consider the whole situation from your diet plan, methods of cooking, to exercise. Choose an exercise you do not find mundane – if you love music take your headphones. Rather than planning on running miles each day, plan instead, on walking briskly for 20 minutes each day – this is actually better for you, is more effective and will be an easier task to accomplish.

4.Don’t Give Up.

Whatever your dreams, goals or plans, remember you can achieve them. If you really want something, never give up. Having a down day is inevitable – but when it’s done, get up shake it off and remember why you want the goal. Write the reasons down – this will help reinstate its value and spur you on when you need it most.

5.Saving Money

If money is an issue – give your friend or family a jar to look after that you cannot touch. Pledge to put a little – even if it’s just £5 each week. You will be amazed at how quickly it can mount up. Before you know it you will be jetting off on that American dream getaway. Yay!!!
