Hey Lovelies!
Don’t get me wrong – there’s nothing like a visit to the hair salon for boosting your confidence. However, for a long time I would leave the hair salon a little grieved that I was unable to achieve that perfect and seemingly effortless blow-dry at home. A few years later (after talking to several professionals and some research) I can now acquire that gorgeous blow-dry without a visit to the salon. Here are the best tips to ensure you can get that salon-worthy blow-dry without having to part with your cash or brave the wintery trek across town.
1.Invest In a Good Hairdryer
The choice of hairdryers is vast, but there are a few key points to remember when in search of the perfect blow-dry:
Ionic technology – gives anti-static effect and seals cuticles, creating shine.
Ceramic tourmaline – Seals in moisture and anti-static effect.
Narrow nozzles – To control heat and airflow direction (so important when creating a salon-worthy finish).
These points make all the difference. I discovered the LanaiBlo – it ticks all the boxes and creates the perfect blow-dry. Although a little pricey at £99, this product is well worth the investment. Once you think of all the money you can save visiting the salon, the LanaiBlo is a true find!
2.Shampoo and Conditioner
Choose a volumising shampoo and conditioner to help boost your locks and enhance shape. I’ve said it before and I will say it again – Label.m’s Thickening Shampoo (£14.25) and Conditioner are truly incredible as they totally boost volume whilst adding a shimmering luminosity to your locks. Result!
3.Always Prepare
Before you even look at a hair dryer apply a hair mask. As we all know – heat damages hair and if your locks are looking a little worse for wear it won’t look better following a blast of heat without the proper protection. I love Philip Kingsley’s Coconut Breeze Elasticizer. This works as a great pre-shampoo treatment or overnight mask. Work through mid-length to the ends and leave on for a good 15 minutes before rinsing out. The added bonus to this is by applying a mask you will actually decrease the length of drying time considerably. Yay – no arm ache!

4.Use A Good Heat Protection Spray.
Should you want the salon-perfect results you have to follow protocol – it’s no good skipping the odd rule – those few moments you spared aren’t worth the split ends that are bound to ensue.
5.Hair Oil
Hair oils are an awesome invention and I literally couldn’t be without mine as split ends and frizz are instantly concealed. A good tip is to apply the oil both before and after you blow-dry. This will guarantee soft and shiny hair to die for. OGX Renewing Moroccan Oil (£6.99)is a firm favourite – but don’t overdo it – a little goes a long way.
6.Dry Shampoo or Styling Spray
Add a little of this (evenly and over your T-zone) to give fine hair some added bounce and thickness.
7.Roots Go First
Always blow-dry the roots of your hair before anywhere else (especially if you have fine or thinning hair). This will keep the volume for longer.

8.Now For The Blow-Dry
Blow-dry the crown by keeping your brush as close as possible to the roots as you dry, pulling your hair gently upwards to create a gorgeous lift.
Dry the hair in sections, from root to tip, making sure your locks are thoroughly dry.
9.Don’t Overdo The Hairspray
Choose a lightweight hairspray and never overdo the application.
10.Rejoice
Finally, take a look in the mirror and smile!
