Top Tips To Avoid The Dreaded Hooded Eye Look

Hey Lovelies!

Today I thought I’d discuss an issue that affects many of us and is one of my daily annoyances – the hooded eye. I’m not sure when my eyelids decided to acquire this unappealing signature look, but I do know I do not want them (but not enough to consider surgery). Fortunately, there are a few things we can do to make them look wider and less hooded.

1.Use An Eye Shadow Primer

As all of us with hooded eyes will know, eyeshadow creases are pretty much a given. Keep them at a minimum by firstly applying your eyeshadow primer. I love Perricone MD’s No EyeShadow, EyeShadow £29, www.perriconemd.co.uk

2.Think About Your Shades

Should you suffer from the dreaded hooded eyes, try to avoid darker eyeshadows. If you love deeper shades, apply them just above the crease and in the centre (making sure you go easy on the shadow, ensuring it doesn’t reach your brow bone).

3.Highlighter Is A Key Product

This quick optical illusion trick will instantly widen the eyes. Take a highlighter stick at apply to the inner corners of your eyelids and also apply a little along your brow bone. Hey presto, big and beautiful peepers! nudebynature’s Touch of Glow Highlight Stick in Champagne (£18) is fab!

4.Forget The Liquid Eyeliner

Liquid eyeliners often cause a hooded eye to look worse. If you simply can’t live without your liner, go for a kohl pencil, which will achieve a softer look, focusing on the outer corners of the eye (liner on the inner corners will make your eyes look like you haven’t slept properly) – and avoid liner on the lower lids as this can make the situation worse. For precise and easy application people with hooded eyelids should apply their liner with open eyes. You will be amazed at how much difference this actually makes! Try Rimmel’s Soft Kohl at Feel Unique (£2.99)

5.Invest In a Good EyeShadow Brush

Eyeshadow lines draw attention to a hooded eye, do buy a really good soft eyeshadow brush, gently sweeping across the eyelid to prevent those irksome lines and create a beautiful wide-eyed finish.

Take that hooded eyes!
